Be Basic Beginner Yoga
Be Basic! Either start your journey here or refine your practice! We all begin by taking that first step, that first class, that first leap of faith. We all have questions even after practicing for a while. This is a workshop-style class for beginners and those who would like to ask questions and refine their alignment or find modifications. You will learn basic alignment and modifications as we move slowly through postures, breaking them down and giving you opportunities to ask questions as you move. We will cover the true basics- the need to know basics- so that you can feel comfortable walking in to any class on the schedule.
All levels are welcome- if you are a true beginner, have been away from yoga for a while, or just want to brush up on alignment and breath-work.
Gentle yoga combines a slower, more grounded practice, which is manageable for students of any size, age or level of fitness. This practice is a calming, moving meditation that helps foster an awareness of the physical body as it moves through a sequence of postures. Gentle yoga offers a softer, nurturing, slow-paced, well-supported and relaxing practice. This practice is good for anyone with chronic pain, illness or injury, or weight challenges; it is also beneficial for seniors and pregnant women; beginner students moving in to their practice and intermediate and advanced students looking to build their practice in a gentler vein or needing to balance their practice with a slower, less intense pace.
Most asana based yoga is “yang” or “active”- highlighting movement and strength with muscular holding. The yin practice is designed to slow your roll. Taking time in each posture holding for 3-5 minutes per pose. Regular yin practice helps strenthen and lengthen muscles and their supporting tissues- ligaments, tendons and fascia. This practice supports all others in your repertoire. Let love yin! All levels.
Restorative + Nidra
Take a a journey to deeply relax your body and mind. Working from the outside in, we will begin with gentle movements to ease physical tensions and make your way into a soulful and mindful relaxation. Yoga Nidra, sometimes referred to as ‘yogic sleep,’ is a restorative meditation that guides you into conscious awareness of each part of the body for deep and effortless relaxation.
Yoga Nidra is not about falling asleep. Rather, Yoga Nidra induces a deep state of relaxation and inner awareness. This technique is effective for stress reduction, weight loss, improving sleep and easing tensions within the body. All levels are welcome!
Restore + Relax
Come into complete relaxation with this restorative practice. Center your breath and body – align the physical and mental by practicing stillness, with gentle assists of props, for extended periods of time. The props assist in helping you to hold poses longer. Certain poses and postures are held for minutes, but not in the way you would in a more muscular or “yang” practice. This practice is meant to be somewhat therapeutic and relaxing. The perfect ending to your day.
This introduction to Vinyasa classic flow class includes standing sequences moving with one breath/one movement, introduction to balance and a seated/finishing sequence. This class is fully guided with modifications given throughout the flow. You will be challenged but successful in this first step in to the “flow” style of physical yoga. This class is also good for anyone looking to take a step back from a more intense practice or recovering from injury or illness. All levels/beginner
Hatha yoga is a powerful tool for self-transformation. The intention of Hatha yoga is to create a path toward balance in the physical body. This practice may help you to develop a balance of strength and flexibility, along with the ability to balance effort and surrender in each pose. You will be encouraged to bring attention to breath, which helps to still the fluctuations of the mind, and be more present in the unfolding of each moment. If you’re new to yoga this is another great class to begin or extend your practice. You will acquire the knowledge to join any class safely and with confidence. Experienced students may enjoy a slower paced, alignment based, class to augment their practice. This class will teach you all about techniques for good posture, incorporating breath work into your practice, and an introduction to meditation. This class is great for stress relief, relaxation and mindfulness.
Teacher- Be Basic
Patricia’s relationship with yoga began in 2004 when she began practicing with her teacher Victoria Rowell. She earned her 200-hour yoga certification through LifePower Yoga in 2014. Patricia had a really strong urge to make yoga more accessible to all because she understood what amazing benefits it had brought to her own life. While practicing yoga through the years she would notice new students come in to the room and feel conspicuous- and she remembered beginning her own practice feeling that same way. Patricia instructs beginners in a way that makes it feel less intimidating and more approachable. She aspires to be un-intimidating in her teaching style so those new to yoga feel comfortable starting their journey. Patricia enjoys meeting all the new students and bringing a sense of renewal, health and just that whole happy & good “vibe” to the area!
A very comfortable class for a beginner. Non intimidating and honestly felt good after the class.Judy Bandringa
